HP Stream 14 vs HP Everyday Laptop: Which Should You Buy?

The HP Stream 14 ($208) is HP's most affordable laptop, featuring an Intel Celeron processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB eMMC storage running Windows 11. The HP Everyday Laptop ($289.99) steps things up with a newer AMD processor, 4GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD, plus it comes with Microsoft Office 365 included. Both are 14-inch Windows laptops aimed at basic computing tasks, but the $82 price difference brings meaningful upgrades.

The biggest upgrade is storage: the Everyday Laptop doubles it to 128GB and uses an SSD instead of eMMC, which means noticeably faster boot times and file access. The AMD processor in the Everyday model is also a generation ahead of the Celeron in the Stream, offering better multitasking performance. The Everyday Laptop also includes a one-year Microsoft Office 365 subscription, which would cost about $70 separately — effectively narrowing the price gap. Both have 4GB RAM, which is tight for modern Windows but workable for light tasks. The Everyday Laptop's build quality is slightly more polished, with a more refined keyboard and trackpad.

Choose the HP Stream 14 if you're on an extremely tight budget and primarily need a machine for web browsing, email, and very light document work. It gets the job done for the lowest possible price. Choose the HP Everyday Laptop if you can stretch the budget — the faster SSD, better processor, and included Office 365 make it a significantly better daily driver. The performance gap is noticeable in day-to-day use.

The HP Everyday Laptop is the clear winner here. The $82 premium buys you a faster processor, double the storage on a faster drive, and a year of Office 365. Unless budget is absolutely non-negotiable, the Everyday model is worth every extra dollar.
