Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go vs Dell Latitude 5420: Which Should You Buy?

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go ($216) is a brand-new Chrome OS laptop with an Intel Celeron N4500, 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage. The Dell Latitude 5420 ($269.99) is a refurbished business-grade laptop running Windows 11 with an Intel Core i5-1145G7, 16GB RAM, and a 256GB SSD. The Dell is a former corporate workhorse, while the Samsung is a consumer-focused lightweight machine.

The Dell Latitude 5420 crushes the Samsung on raw specs — its i5 processor is in a completely different league than the Celeron, it has four times the RAM at 16GB, and four times the storage on a much faster SSD. The Dell's 14-inch FHD display is sharper and brighter. Build quality also differs significantly: the Latitude is built to survive daily corporate use with a spill-resistant keyboard and MIL-STD durability testing. The Samsung is lighter and more portable at under 3 pounds, with better battery life thanks to Chrome OS's efficiency. The Samsung also comes with Chrome OS's built-in virus protection and automatic updates, requiring less maintenance.

Choose the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go if portability and simplicity are your priorities — it's lighter, has longer battery life, and Chrome OS is virtually maintenance-free. It's ideal for students or anyone who mainly uses web apps. Choose the Dell Latitude 5420 if you need Windows software, serious multitasking power, or a machine that can handle demanding workloads. The 16GB RAM alone makes it future-proof in ways the Samsung simply isn't.

For sheer value, the Dell Latitude 5420 is hard to beat — you're getting a business-grade machine with specs that embarrass laptops twice its price. But if you want something new, lightweight, and hassle-free for basic tasks, the Samsung has its charm. The Dell wins on performance; the Samsung wins on convenience.
